COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course identifies methods by which the client's psychosocial environment may be utilized when assessing an individual with a gambling disorder. Topics include:

  • Understanding the underlying personality dynamics in assessing for a gambling disorder.
  • Integrating the Balance of Life Model of Addiction into understanding the functioning of a disordered gambling client.
  • Differentiating between a gambling disorder and other mental health disorders.

Learners will develop the ability to complete an initial assessment and formal diagnosis of a disordered gambler with special attention to the DSM-5 criteria and other assessment tools.
